Dynamos Festival Day @ Roseburn

Throughout the summer, the youngsters involved in Dynamos get the chance to take their first steps in team cricket by taking part in a series of “festivals” in and around Edinburgh on Sunday mornings, and last Sunday it was our turn to host an event at Roseburn.

The sun shone and we had twelve teams form clubs in the city and for the first time from Peebles taking part. We had three groups each consisting of four teams – although one group actually only had three and half teams. The games were eight a side, 8 overs each with the batters batting in pairs and changing ends if they hit a boundary or are out.

There were lots of brilliant, close games, some fantastic catches, sixes hit and great bowling all really well supported by parents from each side. We fielded just under three teams with a mixture of boys and girls from the Dynamos group. Everyone had fun and the work that Jared and his group of enthusiastic parent helpers are doing on a Friday night was there to be seen.

Roseburn was at its best and we were also able to welcome to the event the recently appointed Lothian and Borders development Officer Sriram Muramulla. He enjoyed his morning meeting players, coaches and parents.

These events take a lot of organising and huge thanks are due to Bruce Snaddon for all his work along with those who helped on the day – Chris Brown, Aonghas McIntosh and “Ram” Madhura.

These events give the club the chance to show what we are doing and last Sunday was certainly a great showcase for that.
