Phil Yelland

President
The Man, Myth & Legend of Murrayfield DAFS. Currently ruling with an iron fist in his post as president, Phil started with London Road and made his debut in a friendly against the winners of the Christians vs Lions match in the coliseum. Having played at every level of the club, his biggest focus nowadays is on the running of the club, particularly the burgeoning youth set up and actively gets involved in any club activity. His second biggest focus is remembering the details of the thousands of cricketing anecdotes he has stored over the years.

Andy Lacey

Treasurer
Andy has been with the club for a number of years now. In more recent times he has stopped being an active playing member but back in his hay day he could be seen bludgeoning boundaries to all parts and regularly stopping the ball with his pads behind the stumps (who needs keeping gloves?!?) When not busy looking after his young daughter he is making sure the club accounts are in good order. He is also a keen golfer and uses much of his spare time working on getting his handicap lower.

Phil Hawkins

Secretary
Phil joined the club back in 2009 when he moved up to Edinburgh from Wiltshire in the South of England. He has spent time as the 3rd Team and 2nd Team captain and is now in his 5th season as the Club Secretary. Phil claims to be an opening batter and wicket keeper although many in the club may not agree. He can normally be seen in the pub after the game whinging about the opposition whilst slurping on a Crabbies Ginger Beer. Much to everyone's delight his non-beer drinking approach seems highly amusing to most. Phil is well known in the club for having "the Guns" and smashing sixes to all parts of ground and for being an extra in the hit film "Flash Gordon" as one of Brian Blessed's Hawkmen.

Sam Fergusson

Player Rep
Sam has been with the club since 2010 and is from a small part of Australia known as New Zealand. "Sim" as most of his kiwi friends call him is the resident sicknote at the club with a new injury every season. He is a very useful middle order batsman and a specialist in counter attack after the usual batting collapse which the 1st Team occasionally suffers from. He is the Twitter king and is well known for clogging up phones up with useless Twitter updates which aren't of much of interest to anyone. Sam is another who can regularly be found in the pub after games usually telling everyone stories of his "latest injury". This will be Sam's 4th year as player rep and its true to say that he has been heavily involved with the club both on and off the field. He is definitely one of your go to people if you have any questions. Oh and watch out for those nipples or should I say antennas. You'll understand when you meet him.........

Dean Cornish

Player Rep
Dean joined the club in 2015 as an aspiring all-rounder with high hopes. 2 years and 4398 injuries later, he spends his time at the club bowling exceptionally good leg-spin in the nets, only to go all South African when the pressure is on in a game. More recently he has taken to becoming a flat track bully for the 3rd XI and hit his top score in the final game of last season of 88, before being cut down having smashed a ball into his box. It still hurts on cold mornings. In his spare time, he buys Chinese real estate and tries to set the world record for the longest amount of time to design a website.

Luke Hayes

1st Team Captain
Luke joined the club back in 2009 and hails from Australia. This will become quite apparent when you meet him with his look and accent being quite possibly the most stereotypical aussie you will ever find. He is never too far away from the "Barbie" and is well known for his drunken rambling and constantly saying "No, No, No, No (aussie accent)" in a debate. He is an excellent Batsman and Wicketkeeper who has racked up the runs for MDAFS during his time with the club including the much talked about 5 sixes in one over in the 2015 Parks Final where he battered the opposition to all parts of the ground. He can also bowl a bit as well but we don't want his head getting too big! He is just about to start his second year as 1st Team Captain after a successful first year in which he led the troops to 4th in ESCA Division 1. Luke is probably most well known in the club for his drinking ability and can be seen at the end of night propping up the bar speaking what can only be described as Jibberish. Although less frequent these days due to his two young boys any new members are sure to see this delight a few times a season! Oh and watch out for those flamboyant Hawaiian shirts that come out every so often.

Neil Yelland

Coach
The ruggedly handsome one taking the photo. Neil played his first game for the club when he was 8, and has continued to turn out the same level of underperformance ever since. After a stint away from the club, he returned in 2016 to coach the club and do a passable attempt at playing. Taking up the mantle of 'Angriest Fast Bowler' with the retirement of Melvyn Clench, he is most often found either shouting at fielders for dropping/missing catches no matter how absurd, shouting at batsmen for no reason, or shouting at himself having left a straight one.

Tony Walters

Player Rep
Tony joined the club last season and was recently elected player rep. He is well known in the lower leagues for his super aggressive spin bowling and hard hitting batting style. Hailing from Yorkshire, Tony is the man to go to if you need a good brew.

James Gutteridge

Social Media Officer
James made his club debut in 2016 after a hiatus from the game where he spent most of time on a rather tragic love affair. Having realised that this obsession with Sunderland AFC was unhealthy, he has become a deadly new ball bowler for our 3rd & 4th XI having mastered the lesser known lower league art of landing the ball on a length once an over. He is a member of the highly exclusive 'MDAFS number 11 club', which secretly runs the club. When not playing cricket, he is likely to be shooting at stuff. Legally of course as a decorated rifle shooter.
