Profile of Richard Body

Richie Part of the increasing antipodean contingent... A recent and very welcome addition to the Club following a sensible and practical (for a change) use of the website as Rich was one of the first poor unfortunate souls who found us via the Web and ended up ensnared by us loonies. Described himself as a bit of a Backyard batter in his original mail I recall, (and I think he was talking cricket and not something more private). Virtually counts as a genuine all-rounder. Tom can perhaps add a wee daft bit to this as well surely. Self-portrait (opposite) personally supplied.
Question Answer
Full Name? Richard Mark Body
Nickname(s)? None. Yet. (webed- I think you are going to get the obvious "Brains" now!)
Date of Birth? 17 May 1974
Place of Birth? Auckland, New Zealand
Occupation? Hydraulic Engineer and internet surfer.
Other Hobbies? There's time for other hobbies? Touch rugby, reading, writing, and sleeping
Favourite Food? New Zealand roast lamb (accept no substitute) with mint sauce, with roast potatos, carrots and onions.
Football Allegiance (if any)? Wellington Rugby Football Union. Ipswich Town. Why? Dunno.
Favourite Drink? Monteiths Original Ale. (A kiwi brew, need it be said, that goes down oh so well at the end of a hot day. But then, you wouldn't know about hot days in Scotland.)
Top Film? The Princess Bride.
Top Book? Ender's Game - Orson Scott Card.
Fave Music/Band Right now, The Eels.
Most Likely to Sing Karaoke to? (song/artist) Revolution - the Beatles
Fave Shakespearian Play? The Merchant of Venice. A subversive attack on anti-semetic culture in the 16/17th centuries. At least that's what I argued in 7th form Busary. It's probably one of the only shakespearian plays that I think I get. The other two are Macbeth and Hamlet.
Person Most Want to be Marooned on Desert Island with and why? George W Bush. 'cos then I could kick nine types of shit out of him and then I could lie back and enjoy the sun. Barring him, Nicole Kidman.
Person Least Want to be Marooned on Desert Island with and why? Jade Goody. Need anymore be said? (webed- she's the Mufs lookalike from Big Brother for those who have no time for telly-trash)
Best Sporting Moment? Scoring the opening goal in my 1st XI debut in the premier division of Wellington Secondary Schools Hockey. It was against the big posh school in the rich part of town and we hated them. I believe we won 2-1. Unfortunately the rest of the season was a complete write off.
Worst Sporting Moment/Achievement (personal or any)? Undoubtedly the warmup match at Roseburn in April this year. My batting went: Out, dot, out, dot, dot, run, run, dot, out, dot, out. Four for two. Ouch. (webed - passed the Mufs Batting qualification test therefore with flying colours)
Sporting Idol?Michael Jones. NZ rugby legend and all round star of humanity.
Personal Motto/Philosophy? Accuracy through Volume.
Significant/Tenous Claim to Fame (if any)? Being pissed at the my grandfather's wake. I saw (the late) Sir Peter Blake, NZ yachting legend and winner of round the world yacht races, America's cups etc, and wandered up to him and effectively asked for a job (webed- as what?). I also sat in front of Sir Edmund Hillary (Everest Conqueror, and all round good guy) at the theatre once.
