SHARKY'S SRI LANKAN ADVENTURE |

2-0 down and seeking to salvage some pride in the final tour game versus the Sri Lankan Rotarians. Sicknote in action.

The game was played at the very picturesque St Joseph's College. There was a U-19 World Cup warm-up match scheduled for the next day on the same wicket - but as it was Kumar's old college we were allowed to play on it. We were closing the gap -ahem- the Rotarians were restricted to a mere 213 this time from their 35 this time.

We had started ok (Kumar and me had put on 41 at a more sedate rate than their top-order) but it went all Pete Tong again until Lord Lucan's Tour Topping score of 34 (yes we almost got a man to the retiral point of 35!) which came to a brave end here (curse of the camera strikes again)

A late flourish from Pyscho (20 not - pictured) and Flop Flip (18 not) saw us to a dizzy 148 from our allotted 35 hours.

We came in peace -but didn't show too much power.

Though less peaceful in the bar afterwards.

And another "When The Saints Go.." rendition to round things off. Under intense questioning my secret background as "The Gay Son of a Skate Copper" (translates as Brighton-born offspring of a Portsmouth Policeman) was revealed much to the shock of the tour party, who were asking questions about pre-selection screening checks on new recruits. Good job I didn't bring that Pompey shirt (only joking, lads). |
