View of the day's catch being brought in on the way down south from Colombo. The trip down the coastal road still shows the terrible extent of the Tsunami damage. The bus was very hushed as we witnessed many still shattered buildings and beach-side graveyards.

This was built as a result of the London Saints fund-rasing efforts. Good on ya all.

We stopped for a very tasty lunch at the most excellent Lighthouse Hotel outside Galle- this was the view along the coast from here.

Then onto Camp Coconut - a children's day centre used by the Tsunami orphans and other local kids. The Saints had also raised funds for building some cricket nets and other play equipment. Cricket in the garden grounds - a few hazards to negotiate in the outfield. These kids sure could whack a tennis ball as my first delivery to them was struck over the Camp roof...

And also bowl a mean delivery as "Hilda" found out.

Hampshire Cricket Club had also donated some kit for the Camp kids...

Which was very much appreciated.

Then it was off to the Final of the International Elephant Polo at Galle- unfortunantly they finished early and we arrived just in time for the presentations. So Gilly never did find out how the elephants actually hit the ball.

The game was played next to the famous old Dutch Fort and Galle. The international cricket ground is across the road - the Windies U-19s were playing a warm-up game at the time so the ground must have recovered from the effects of the Tsunami.

We stayed overnight at a beach resort further down the coast - much to the bemusement (and annoyance) of the holidaying Germans and Dutch particularly when a bunch of Brits took over the pool for an impromptu game of hard fought water volleyball in the fading evening light.

And a late night round of Arrack cocktails and beer was heartily enjoyed.
