View of the Temple of the Tooth, or Dalada Maligawa, Kandy. It contains the most sacred relic of Buddhism, the Tooth taken from the mortal remains of the Buddha that were cremated following his attainment of Nirvana.

The shrine room of the Temple. The Tooth - Buddha's left eye-tooth- is kept in a golden lotus beneath 6 golden, and one silver gilt, caskets.

Statue of Buddha in the temple. The flame eminating from the top of his head represents enlightenment I believe.

View of the Temple walls in the evening sun. This had once been a Tamil Tiger bomb target so there was quite a heavy security presence.
