Message from MFL Administrator, Chris Brown on 23 July:

"Hello fellow Muffers

MLF is now reaching the critical part of the season so now is the time to cement your place at the top, settle for mediocrity or try and save some face. And in keeping with any good fantasy league competition now is your chance to do something about your woeful performers. Instead of suggesting that you frogmarch your men down to nets and get them to practice scoring runs / catching / knocking the stumps down (though that might be an idea for team performance) why not just drop them from your team. Each team will be allowed 2 transfers in any department. You can even change your captain to another player in your team (1 transfer) or drop them altogether from the XI, though that'll use all your transfers up in one go. But be quick !!! You only have until start of games on Saturday to make your changes.

The instructions in the transfer spreadsheet MFL 2008 Transfer Spreadsheet should be self-explanatory but it anyone needs any help then send me an email to the same address to send your changes, cpb_100@hotmail.com.

Obviously if your are happy with your team you don't need to do anything at all. The only thing to be aware of is that the players you are buying are priced differently and there are some new players too. Everything you need should be in the spreadsheet including the points everyone has earned so far and your own team (and everyone else's). Please let me know of any errors, but I cannot accept responsibility for you picking a useless team.

Example 1 -
Buy Danny Abraham (£800) to replace Jaya (£700) as a batsman - Net cost £100
Buy Chris Grey (£700) to replace Mel Clench (£800) - Net cost -£100 (Chris Grey is a new player and Danny's price has gone up from £600 to £800 so it'll cost you the new price to buy him)

Example 2 -
Buy Paul Hubbard (£700) to replace Darren Kidd (£700) as a batsman -
Net cost £0
Make Ian Shiels your new captain instead of Darren - No cost
(Swapping batsmen counts as one transfer and the 2nd is electing the new captain)

The decision is yours !!!"

Its back and better than ever!! The 2008 MDCC Fantasy Cricket League will be starting from the 24 May weekend games onwards. So please find below an Entry Form and a Price-list for Players. £5 entry fee.

Entry Form and Rules
Player Price Lists

Prices have been decided by a panel of "Experts" (err me). Don't get all precious about them (i.e. he's rated higher than me etc!!) - its a bit of fun remember.

Please send completed Entry form to MDCC Fantasy League Administrator Chris Brown or by snail-mail to Chris Brown, 4/8 Sinclair Close, Edinburgh, EH11 1US. Or bring form and fee to nets, or give to a Captain or official (preferably before Sat's games). You can join at any time but the sooner of course is the better. It should be reasonably obvious how to pick a team and fill in the form in, but if stuck contact me (Ian Shiels - 07730 074174) or Chris Brown for guidance. Rules below (and MDCC administrator (Chris) decisions are final in case of any dispute)....

League Rules:
Maximum Budget is £5250
Pick 5 batsmen, 5 bowlers, 1 keeper and appoint 1 player as Captain. You can select a player in more than one category (bat/bowl/keep) but you will need to buy them separately for each category.
Captain’s points score double.

The 1st placed manager wins 30% of all entry fees
